As you enter
Ticket price for site entry is only 10,000Rp or close enough to $1. The falls are only a couple minutes walk down the entrance trail, however, before setting off you are presented with the regular proliferation of art and souvenir shops, together with small local warung selling snacks and cold drinks. This is a great opportunity to go visit the rest room, grab a bottle of water before setting off to explore the waterfall.
Can you swim here ?
Water quality is really dependent on the time of year that you visit. During the heavy rains of the wet season (November through to February), the water takes on a brownish color, however during the dry season it is usually clear and inviting. A natural pool is located at the base of the fall and is certainly fit for swimming. During wet season however, the site is prone to flash flooding, so best to consult with your guide if you are unsure.
Tegenungan Waterfalls is an easy stop to make on the way to an overnight stay in Ubud. I highly recommend stopping here for lunch and I can recommend searching out the tamarind flavored duck if you are stopping for lunch. So break up journey, have a swim, eat some food and obviously enjoy the natural beauty of the waterfall.
