ONE of the best things about holidaying in Bali is pampering yourself with a massage or beauty treatment at a spa. However, many spa facilities in the country’s tourist hubs are operating illegally.
A huge police crackdown on rogue spas in the popular tourist spot of Kuta has seen 28 out of 30 spas operating in the city shut down, Asian news publication Coconuts has reported. As many as 15 of the spas were located on main roads in the tourist hotspot.
The investigation uncovered that many were operating without the proper permit required to run a spa facility and many of the employees purporting to be “therapists” were not actually certified.
